Mission Statement
BritWeek, Inc., a 501(C)3 Organization, was formed to educate the general public
about the contributions of the British to California in particular and the United States in general, and to do other and various good
(public) works. In furtherance of these endeavors, we host and publicly support a number of events open to the general public that focus on the British
contribution to film, fashion, music, the automotive industry and science. In addition to the foregoing educational mission, we also host an annual charity
event, the proceeds of which become a grant in support of a major charitable cause.
A 501(C)3 Organization
BritWeek™ is committed to being a strong cultural and organizational presence within our community. As an IRS-recognized 501(c)3 Organization, we are granted the privilege to operate as a non-profit, and thus donations to BritWeek™ are tax deductible.
To help make our world a better place, we also support other worthy non-profit organizations. In 2008, BritWeek™ honored
LA's BEST (Better Educated Students for Tomorrow), a nationally recognized after-school education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 26,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles.
In 2009, BritWeek™ was honored to support the efforts of Malaria No More, a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to ending deaths from the disease in Africa.
Endorsed by world leaders and global organizations and founded by News Corporation President & COO Peter Chernin and United Nations Special Envoy for Malaria Ray Chambers, Malaria No More has raised millions and made tremendous strides in educating the public and saving lives.
Prime Minister Tony Blair was the guest of honor at the star-studded BritWeek™ Gala Dinner benefiting this important cause.
In 2010, BritWeek honored two extraordinary charities, Save the Children and Virgin Unite, at the star-studded Gala Dinner paying tribute to special guest Sir Richard Branson.
In 2011, BritWeek presented the Joy of Reading project, a unique program promoting reading and literacy in partnership with LA’s BEST, a nationally recognized after school education, enrichment and recreation program serving 28,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources at 180 elementary schools throughout the City of Los Angeles. Thousands of students participated in the Joy of Reading, which funded libraries for more than 100 schools and sent 8 student winners of the essay contest on a trip-of-a-lifetime to London. The BritWeek Gala Dinner honoring Timothy J. Leiweke, President & CEO of AEG, benefited this very worthy cause.
